Ursula McCormak – Global Banking and Finance Fintech Sector Lead at King & Wood Mallesons

Urszula McCormack is one of Asia’s leading regulatory and digital economy lawyers, with a focus on emerging technologies. Urszula advises global banks, payment institutions, large technology companies, virtual asset issuers and innovators on new products, compliance and licensing.  

In relation to data, Urszula advises on privacy regulation, digital transformation and algorithmic design. She is also a leading specialist on digital identity and AML/CFT/sanctions controls. 

Urszula is an appointed member of the SFC Fintech Advisory Group, FSDC Working Group on DCEP/CBDCs, WEF DeFi Working Group, ASIFMA Fintech Working Group and multiple other policy fora. Nathan Simmons – Chief Compliance Officer at BC Group

Nathan is the Group CCO of OSL and BC Group (HK:863), and has led licensing applications in several jurisdictions for the Group, as well as participating in digital asset industry working groups on the implementation of the FATF Travel Rule. Before joining OSL, Nathan was a contentious regulatory, tax and insolvency lawyer, practicing in Australia, the UK and Hong Kong.

Richard Wintermeyer – Executive Co-chair at GDF

Lawrence is a globally recognised digital finance advocate with a track record as an advisor, executive, and board member working with global brands and startups. Based in London, he is the Principal of Elipses, a digital investment management firm focused on sustainable investments, systematic investment management strategies, big data analytics, machine learning, and DLT technologies. He is the co-founder of Global Digital Finance, a not for-profit promoting fair and transparent markets for crypto and digital assets, and is the former CEO of Innovate Finance. Lawrence has an MBA and is a regular Forbes contributor.

Lee Schneider – General Counsel at block.one

Lee A. Schneider is General Counsel at Block.one, one of the world’s largest blockchain companies and creator of the EOSIO blockchain protocol.  In that role, Schneider is responsible for various aspects of the legal function as well as the company’s government affairs initiatives.

He joined Block.One after leading the blockchain, FinTech and broker-dealer practices at two major international firms.  Lee has been recognized as one of the leading voices in blockchain-related regulation and compliance and has played a role in structuring several of the largest and most successful blockchain-related projects.  He is the contributing editor of the Chambers and Partners 2019 FinTech Practice Guide.

Schneider co-hosts Appetite for Disruption, a bi-weekly FinTech podcast with former SEC Commissioner Troy Paredes, which features interviews with leading voices in the space.  Lee is also a co-founder of Genesis Block, a blockchain and start-up advisory firm.

Schneider holds a Juris Doctor degree from American University’s Washington College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Michigan.

David Hardoon – Senior Advisor for Data and AI at Union Bank; fmr Special AI Advisor at MASking

David is the Senior Advisor for Data and Artificial Intelligence at UnionBank Philippines. Concurrently David is an external advisor to Singapore’s Corrupt Investigation Practices Bureau (CPIB) in the capacity of Senior Advisor (Artificial Intelligence) and to Singapore’s Central Provident Fund Board (CPF) in the capacity of Senior Advisor (Data Science). Prior to his current roles, David was Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) first appointed Chief Data Officer and Head of Data Analytics Group reporting to the agency Deputy Managing Director for Financial Supervision and subsequently Special Advisor (Artificial Intelligence) reporting to Deputy Managing Director for Markets and Development. In these roles he led the development of the AI strategy both for MAS and Singapore’s financial sector as well as driving efforts in promoting open cross-border data flows. 

Joy Fuyuno – Senior Regional Counsel at Microsoft

Joy Fuyuno is Asia Regional Senior Counsel and Asia Legal Lead, Financial Services Industry for Microsoft, based in Singapore. Joy regularly engages with financial services regulators throughout the region, as well as financial institutions, on regulatory and policy issues relating to digital transformation in the financial services industry.

Tim Leung – Product and Technology Director at Tencent

Mr Tim Leung is responsible for cross-border and AI fintech products for Tencent.  His work aims at designing industry solutions based on Tencent’s payment, big data and AI technologies for financial institutions such as banks, insurance firms.  Before this, Tim has been working on internet products and technologies across Tencent, Microsoft and Yahoo for over a decade.  He has created China’s biggest smart TV video service from ground up, run Microsoft’s Bing news search service and driven a community site in Yahoo when social networks were at its infancy.

Douglas Arner – Professor in Law at the University of Hong Kong

Douglas W. Arner is the Kerry Holdings Professor in Law at the University of Hong Kong, a Senior Fellow of Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne, and a Non-Executive Director of Aptorum Group [NASDAQ: APM]. At HKU, he co-founded and is the Faculty Director of the LLM Compliance and Regulation, LLM Corporate and Financial Law, LITE (Law, Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship), and EAIEL (East Asian International Economic Law and Policy) Programmes. He led the world’s largest MOOC: Introduction to FinTech, with approximately 40,000 learners globally. He is cofounder of the Executive Committee of the Asia Pacific Structured Finance Association, a member of the Advisory Boards of SuperCharger FinTech Accelerator, the International RegTech Association and the Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship. Douglas has served as a consultant with the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Alliance for Financial Inclusion, APEC, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Islamic Financial Services Board and Development Bank of Southern Africa.

Wendy Eniss – Head of Financial Crime Compliance at Mox Bank

Originally from Canada, Wendy has worked in Asia for almost 17 years. Prior to joining Mox, Wendy was the Regional Head of Business Advisory and Governance for Greater China & North Asia at Standard Chartered. Wendy also chairs the HKAB KYCU Steering Committee, to explore the feasibility of a KYC Utility for the HK market. Wendy spent some enjoyable time with JPMorgan working in various senior roles and is passionate about exploring the balance between controls and innovation.

William Scott Grob – CAMS-FCI, CGSS, FRM CAIA

Dr William Scott Grob, CAMS-FCI, CGSS, FRM, CAIA is the AML Director for Americas. In his role, he manages the speaker faculty and training of ACAMS certificate programs. He presents at regional conferences, symposiums, and webinars on a wide range of topics, such as Sunrise Series for VASPs, policy and regulatory issues, and training gaps in the industry. He has contributed content to CGSS, CTMA, CKYCA, and Fintech programs as well as building bespoke corporate training programs, the AML-country regime exams for Singapore and India, the Fighting Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking certificate, and is presently working on the Stop Illegal Wildlife Trade certificate beingdeveloped jointly with the WWF. 

Dr Grob has over 25 years of financial and banking expertise. His most recent role was as Regional Head of Affiliates Management, HSBC, where he worked on mitigating financial crime and correspondent banking risks across Asia. His 12-year career at the bank also included managing risk within the Equity/FX prime brokerage business, Structured Funds business, and Hedge Fund units. 

Dr Grob earned a Bachelor’s degree from Boston University, a Master of Arts from George Mason University, a certificate from Harvard Business School’s General Management Program, and a Doctorate of Management from SMC University (USA), where his dissertation was focused on correspondent banking- “Impact of Correspondent Bank Enhanced Due Diligence Practices.”
